University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors visit Palama Settlement
The University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football team visited Palama Settlement to participate in a community outreach event organized by the Downtown Athletic Club. The players volunteered their time to assist with football practices for two groups of children, aged 5-10 and 10-14 years old. The event aimed to give back to the community and positively impact the lives of the young participants, aligning with Palama Settlement’s mission to empower those with the greatest needs.
The Rainbow Warriors players expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to serve their community and bring joy to the children. They engaged in various drills and games with the kids, such as playing “fishy fishy,” which brought back memories of their own childhood experiences. The players recognized the importance of supporting the community that has always supported them, and they were grateful for the resources provided by DACH, which they could use for their personal needs related to school and family.
It feels heartwarming, just giving back to the community where I grew up. Growing up here in Hawaii and being able to just give back to the kids and the community feels heartwarming and good.
– Sergio Muasau, UH Rainbow Warrior Football Athlete
